EXPERIENCED banking professional Steve Jackson has joined Seneca as a director in the Bridging Finance team.

Jackson has more than 29 years financial services experience, having joined Co-operative Financial Services in 1986, holding various positions within the bank before moving into structured finance, ultimately with responsibility for the bank’s syndicated loan book in excess of £1bn.

His role with Haydock-based Seneca will be to help grow the bridging finance book to facilitate and fund more short-term bridging loan requirements primarily for residential or commercial property and land.

Jackson said: “This is a really exciting time for me as there is real potential to grow Seneca Bridging Finance which offers an alternative, flexible approach from other bridging providers, providing transparency and clarity, through short lines of communication, dedicated resource and an innovative and bespoke approach to bridging finance.”

CO-OPERATIVE Legal Services based in Manchester has announced three new executive appointments across its probate, family and personal Injury practices.

Rob Heaton, joins CLS this week as head of probate operations. He started his career in the legal sector with Eversheds Solicitors, where he spent 10 years in a variety of managerial positions.  

More recently, Heaton was at personal injury law firm; NewLaw Solicitors where he was head of operations and played an integral role in the firm’s transition through to an ABS.

Sam Hickman joins next month as head of family practice and brings with her a wealth of family law experience. Her most recent role was with Clarke Wilmott, where she has been for 11 years focused on the growth and development of the private family practices across the UK and South West.

Anthony Wilson joins CLS in October as head of personal injury. Joining from 2020 Legal and having held previous roles with Hill Dickinson and Goldsmith Williams, Wilson brings with him a range of key expertise across RTA practice, employer liability, public liability and clinical negligence.

CHESHIRE-based C&C Catering Equipment has promoted Mark Roxburgh to installations director from his current post of senior project manager.

Roxburgh has been with the company since 1998, and bosses say his hard work and dedication are the cornerstones to his continued success.

He has spent 90% of his time in the capital, managing more than 200 projects including Nomura, The Café Royal, American Express, UBS and Ernst & Young to name a few.

Project Director Paul Parry said:, “Having worked with Mark for nearly 20 years, I consider him to be one, if not the best project manager in our industry.”

MANCHESTER-based digital design and web build agency, Degree 53, has appointed Lauren Luke as business development Manager to help drive its growth strategy.

Luke, 29, is focusing on expanding the company’s client base and moving into new industries.

With 11 years’ experience in digital marketing, predominantly in user experience, she will lead on securing new contracts, working alongside Managing Director Andrew Daniels and fellow Business Development Manager Adam Smethurst.

She said said: “Degree 53 is an exciting digital business and I have been tasked with introducing our offer to new markets.

“The key thing for me in this role is working in partnership with our existing and new customers nurturing our long term relationships and supporting their success.”

THE Chester Grosvenor has appointed Gareth Jones as head chef at its La Brasserie restaurant.

A former sous chef at the property, who previously worked at The Chester Grosvenor from 2000-2007, JOnes has also occupied senior roles at Bodysgallen Hall and Spa, as well as the Midland Hotel, where he oversaw the launch of Mr Cooper’s House and Garden.

Now returning to The Chester Grosvenor to run the kitchen of La Brasserie, Gareth is delighted to have come full circle and returned to his hometown.

“15 years ago I built a relationship with The Chester Grosvenor when in the position of sous chef,” he said. “So to return as head chef really is a fantastic opportunity.”

MANCHESTER-based Tim Groom Architects has unveiled David Machell  as a new architectural assistant. 

Machell is a graduate of the University of Liverpool where he received a first class Master of Architecture degree and was presented with the Hays Practice Design Prize.

He will be working on a variety of projects including a housing development in Cheshire and a newly commissioned £30m mixed-use development in Liverpool.

The new appointment follows a busy year for the practice which has seen recent planning approvals for a boutique hotel at Bruntwood Hall in Cheshire and a 121 studio apartment development for students at Trafford Street in Chester.

Tim Groom Architects is also working on a number of residential commissions in Manchester City Centre including a 14-storey PRS scheme for Mulbury Homes on Great Ancoats Street.

SPECIALIST short-term finance provider Bridging Finance Ltd, based at Cheadle Hulme, Greater Manchester has expanded its team of regional development managers with a trio of new recruits.

Steve Powis, a property professional with 22 years’ experience in commercial and corporate banking at HSBC, Lloyds Banking Group and Royal Bank of Scotland, joins as regional development manager for South Wales, Hereford, Worcester, Gloucestershire and Oxford.

Mark Finucane, who has over 20 years’ experience in the West Midlands and East Midlands property market, joins from First Title Insurance plc as regional development manager for the Midlands.

Paul Chadney is also set to join the short-term finance specialists later this month as regional development director for the South.

THE head of independent surveying firm Malcolm Hollis’s Manchester office is one of three new equity partners to join the company’s board.

Jamie O’Brien oversees the firm’s activities in the North West, heading up the Manchester office and managing the recently formed Liverpool team.

O’Brien joins the board alongside Chris Sullivan (Birmingham) and Peter Martin (Glasgow).

All three have been with the company more than 10 years.
