Safer Sphere toasts contract win with online move

HEALTH and safety specialist Safer Sphere has won a major contract with Dandara on its Chapel Wharf scheme in Salford.

The deal coincides with Safer Sphere’s newly-developed online portal also going live.

Dandara has appointed Safer Sphere to the scheme adjacent to The Lowry Hotel on Chapel Street in Salford.

It involves the demolition of existing office and warehouse buildings and the relocation of the Lowry car park to make way for four residential buildings of between 12 and 22 storeys.

The residential scheme will provide a mix of studio, one, two and three bedroom apartments for private rent as well as 15,800sq ft of commercial space on the ground floor.

As well as being appointed on the Chapel Wharf scheme, Safer Sphere is also working with Dandara on a further four of its major UK sites to help deliver schemes in Glasgow, Leeds and Birmingham. Chapel Wharf remains the largest of the projects and is set to deliver 995 apartments on a 4.5 acre site.

A spokesman for Dandara said: “We have worked with Safer Sphere for two years and they give invaluable and trusted health and safety advice to both our construction and lettings teams. They are both pragmatic and proactive.

“We’ve also been drawn to the fabulous online solution that they’ve been working hard on in recent months to react to the recent CDM 2015 regulation changes and, following more detailed review, we’re likely to adopt the solution across our portfolio.”

Safer Sphere managing director Mike Forsyth said: “It’s fantastic to have the early endorsement of our online portal by a company of the stature of Dandara as well as build on the relationship that we’ve established with them over the last two years.

“Chapel Wharf is such a major scheme in the North West, it speaks volumes about Dandara’s confidence in our experience which we’re pouring into our online solution. We hope that many others will follow in the footsteps of Dandara in endorsing the product created for those in the principal designer role.”
