Eric Wright profits close to £10m

PRESTON-headquartered Eric Wright Group has reported a successful year, achieving profits of almost £10m.

The firm, which provides construction, civil engineering, facilities management and property development services, posted pre-tax profits of £9.6m in 2014, up by 41% on the previous year.

Citing the success to growth across a number of divisions, the company has secured a number of large-scale contracts, particularly retail, leisure and commercial projects, as well as being appointed onto a number of frameworks within the utilities and education sectors.

The firm is supporting the increase in business by expanding its footprint across the North of England with a new office in Manchester and plans to open another in Yorkshire.

Group managing director Jeremy Hartley said: “The figures are testament to another strong year for the group as a whole with all key operating divisions showing positive signs that the recovery in the economy is sustainable.

“Relationships are the core of any successful business and by having a presence nearer to our projects, key clients and partner organisations, we become far better placed to continue to deliver the high quality service that we pride ourselves on.

“The North of England is definitely seeing a strong upturn in both development and construction activity, supported hugely by the likes of the Northern Powerhouse, Enterprise Zones and Preston, South Ribble and Lancashire City Deal.  It’s therefore an ideal time to invest in expanding our presence in the heart of the region in support of our future growth plans.”

From humble beginnings in 1923, the Eric Wright Group, which is 49% owned by the Eric Wright Trust, has grown into one of the most successful regional contractors in the UK.
