CPUK to kick off Warrington’s £107m regeneration scheme

CONSTRUCTION Partnership UK has been appointed to construct the first part of Warrington’s £107m Bridge Street Regeneration Project.

CPUK will begin construction of the 25,500sq ft structural retail shell and its mezzanine floor in January 2016.

The retail structure will be the first element of the Bridge Street Quarter Regeneration Scheme to be built and following its completion will become a temporary market hall on the site of what is currently Time Square.

Planning approval for the temporary market was granted recently.

At no time will the market cease to trade. The new market building will open in 2019. The temporary market shell will then be converted into future retail use.

Warrington Borough Council leader Collrr Terry O’Neill said: “CPUK’s appointment is great news. The construction of the temporary market is such an integral part of the Bridge Street Regeneration Project as it will provide our market traders with the setting they need to continue trading whilst WBC deliver the brand new, permanent market hall building.”

Steve Park, managing director of Warrington & Co, which acts as an interface between developers and the council, said: “The appointment of CPUK marks yet another positive step forward for the Bridge Street scheme and I’m delighted that we’ve been able to source a locally based firm with such solid experience and expertise.”

CPUK managing director Steve Burke said: “The construction phase of the project will bring employment opportunities for some of the local population and construction related businesses.”
