Green light for 195 new homes in Lancashire

A DEVELOPMENT of 195 new homes in Longridge, near Preston has been given planning approval.

Ribble Valley Borough Council gave the detailed design for the scheme submitted by planning consultancy Turley on behalf of Taylor Wimpey at Dilworth Lane the thumbs up.

The design-led scheme comprises a mix of two, three and four-bedroom houses and bungalows. The development will also provide extensive landscaped open space, equipped play spaces and recreation areas.

Turley provided both planning and local engagement support throughout the outline application, which was approved in March 2015, and the subsequent approval of reserved matters.

Greg Dickson, associate director at Turley in Manchester, said: “The scheme is of an exemplary design and contributes positively to local housing needs. It is a fantastic development for Longridge.”

Gareth Bancroft, planning manager at Taylor Wimpey, added: “For local people, the approved plans will mean an investment of more than £3.5m, improving local infrastructure and services for Longridge. We are now able to ensure that we are planning positively for the local community, including families, first-time buyers and key workers.”

Turley says it undertook a proactive and positive engagement program over a 24-month period with the local community that culminated with a series of public consultation events and presentations to Ribble Valley Borough Council. The outline scheme was prepared by Randall Thorp and MPSL have taken these plans forward to deliver the detailed layout for the site.

Taylor Wimpey will now look to continue discharging relevant conditions attached to the planning permission, with construction of the first homes scheduled to starte in spring 2016.
