Eric Wright gets Stockport Homes HQ contract

QUORUM Estates has appointed Eric Wright Construction to deliver a new headquarters for Stockport Homes the town centre.

Demolition of the former car showroom and adjacent industrial buildings has completed and Eric Wright, part of the Eric Wright Group, is due to start on site on January 4.

The new four-storey building will see the consolidation of Stockport Homes’ existing services into one modern, Grade A office building situated on Edward Street, opposite Stockport Town Hall.

Paul Cook, director of Quorum, said: “We went through a thorough tender process prior to selecting Eric Wright Construction and look forward to working with them on this project.

“Working in conjunction with our design team and Stockport Homes we have agreed a turnkey specification which is cost efficient and which will provide a new high quality environment for staff and customers of Stockport Homes.”

John Wilson, managing director of Eric Wright Construction, said: “Stockport Homes has expanded significantly in recent years, which means that the company has simply outgrown its current headquarters.

“This scheme builds on our recent projects to erect multi-storey offices at Stockport Exchange and in Blackpool and will bring high quality, sustainable office space to a vacant location in the town, whilst also futureproof the company’s office needs.”

Steve Burne, managing director of AEW Architects, said: “Having worked with Quorum on this site for a number of years, it is a significant milestone that contracts have been signed and we look forward to working with Eric Wright Construction to deliver this exciting scheme. ”

David Wright, chair of Stockport Homes Board, added: “The new head office will offer better facilities to visiting customers who have been involved in plans and preparation; and will bring more staff together, helping us to embrace more modern, efficient and flexible methods of work.

“This development also compliments regeneration plans for the town centre, which will help create jobs and will be a valuable asset to Stockport Council.”
