TELECOMS and IT services group Chess had completed five further acquisitions.

The privately-owned Alderley Edge based company, which is closing in on making its 100th acquisition, said it had bought the five firms in the final quarter of 2015.

They are: Go4 – a provider of fibre optic broadband, business phones, broadband and mobile; Tetcom – a business calls and lines provider which also sells PBX systems; Powercit – a provider of business IT support to telephone systems including fixed lines and calls; Millennium Talk – which offers line rental, calls, broadband services, business line packages, business bundle packages and residential lines and a fifth further undisclosed deal.

Chess said the deal would bring additional revenues to its run rate which already stands at over £85m turnover. The services provided will also strengthen its portfolio of services and bring new customers.

Founder and chief executive David Pollock said: “All of these acquisitions delivered technological advantage to their customers; We have the talent, knowledge, skill, experience and drive to maximize the potential of these businesses within the Chess Group and deliver first class service to their customers.”

Richard Btesh,  who leads the company’s acquisitions, added: ” These further acquisitions demonstrate to other potential sellers in the telecoms, data and ICT sector that Chess remains the stand-out choice for those selling up all or part of their business.”
