Cricketer aims to hit high rollers for six

FORMER Lancashire and England cricketer Sajid Mahmood is helping to launch exclusive brand 24Kt, alongside sports fashion designer Tony Q’aja.

24Kt is a an exclusive club limited to 1,000 people worldwide and boasts other sporting icons like golfers Darren Clarke and Lee Westwood among its number.

A hallmark of the brand, based at The Club House in Alderley Edge, Cheshire is 24 carat gold sewn into the clothing designed by Q’aja, particularly the green membership blazer.

Its client base also includes Robbie Williams, Ronan Keating, Samuel L Jackson, Morgan Freeman and Vinny Jones as well as Mahmood’s cousin, Bolton boxing star Amir Khan.

Tony and Saj recently appointed former Pilkington’s Group chief executive Ray Tarr as non-executive chairman to offer commercial guidance and to help in the development of the business.

“24Kt is a unique offering,” said Tarr. “Each item of clothing is made bespoke – one-off for the individual concerned.”

UKTI is set to support ‘XXIV KT’ launch in New Delhi with the use of the British Embassy and network of VVIP contacts in India.

Fast bowler Mahmood, who now plays for Essex, said: “I have friends who think nothing of spending £140,000 on a bespoke designer watch, £40,000 on Vanquish Suit by BRIONI. It’s  about prestige and a statement with a luxury brand, this is who I am and can afford this.

“In the luxury world, each member of our selective 24Kt Owners Club will benefit from Royal Services, a highly personalized service with access to the world exclusive bespoke designer clothing worn by only a select few.

“Our existing members include Amir Khan, Dynamo, Jamie Vardy and Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Crown Prince of Qatar, so we know the concept works.

“Why India? I have nothing against the North West having played for Lancashire, however India has a growing demand for luxury good and brands.”

The business is currently looking to secure early stage funding and is interested in angel Investment and has EIS approval.
