Property firm’s number comes up with hotel and casino plan

DEVELOPER and investor Property Alliance Group has received planning permission, to redevelop 55 Portland Street and the adjacent car park site in Manchester city centre into a hotel and casino.

The existing office building will be comprehensively remodelled to provide a landmark 14-storey grade A office building totalling 84,000 sq ft with suites available from 6,000sq ft with spectacular views over the city centre.

The existing facade is to be stripped off and replaced with a new high specification glazed cladding system. The property is also to be extended both to the front (Portland Street) and rear (Major Street) and a new floor added to the existing structure.

Manchester-based Alliance’s plans also include a new build 183-bed hotel with a casino on the ground floor, together with restaurant, bar, meeting rooms and landscaped roof garden, situated adjacent to the office building.
