Business growth expert launches new firm

EXPERIENCED corporate financier David Simmons has launched a new boutique focused on helping owner managed business owners and ambitious entrepreneurs.

Simmons, whose CV includes Atlas Corporate Finance, two years as a growth coach with the now defunct Growth Accelerator programme and also worked at Manchester-based Ford Campbell Corporate Finance, has formed Ascent Corporate Finance.

Based in Manchester, Ascent is supported by a strong line-up of experienced consultants with specialist sector experience.

Former Burtonwood Inns managing director and Global Tote chief executive  Stephen Evans will advise leisure companies; Duncan Palfreyman is an experienced executive in business support services; ex Pilkingtons Group boss Ray Tarr specialises in manufacturing and marketing, while Lee Slaughter will work with IT and telecoms business.

Simmons said: “We aim to help businesses through every stage of their growth cycle, from fundraising to mergers and acquisitions and exits.”

He said Ascent is working with clients looking to acquire businesses in a number of sectors including: freight forwarding; logistics;  commercial cleaning; physiotherapy clinics; occupational health; online retail; and in the leisure sector too.
