Airport’s transformtion project before council planners

PLANS for the major extension to Manchester Airport’s Terminal 2 go before Manchester City Council’s planning committee today.

The scheme is part of Manchester Airports Group’s £1bn Manchester Airport Transformation Project.

The 10-year project, which will see operations focused on an enlarged and revamped Terminal 2 and the eventual closure of Terminal 1  is said to be the biggest single construction project in Greater Manchester.

The MAN-TP project, as it is known, will deliver a series of 60 enhancements including new retail outlets, quicker connections, a contemporary look and feel, more innovative products and services as well as smoother journeys for the millions of passengers who use the UK’s third biggest airport each year.

City Council planning chiefs are recommending the project, one of the biggest in the region in recent years, to be approved.
