Journeyman ex-Sky Sports reporter to leave football club

FORMER Sky Sports reporter Alan Myers has announced he is leaving his post as commercial and communications director of Championship football club Blackburn Rovers.

He announced his decision to staff at the Ewood Park club yesterday, according to the Lancashire Telegraph.

Myers became the club’s director of communications two years ago, 24 hours after leaving a similar post at Everton.

He then assumed responsibility of commercial director when Dave Biggar left the Rovers in 2015.

Myers and fellow director Mike Cheston have been covering the duties of former managing director Derek Shaw since February.

Myers was North West bureau chief for Sky Sports News before joining Everton in 2013.
He had joined the club in 1996 as its first press officer, staying for five years before joining Sky.
