More space for city’s burgeoning creative and digital firms

A COMMUNITY interest company is creating nine new studio spaces for the creative and digital sector to its portfolio in Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle.

Baltic Creative says 16 Jordan Street is to be redeveloped into space designed to support the rapidly growing sector by adding a further 5,809sq ft of net lettable space.

The move represents Baltic Creative’s first step beyond its original 45,000sq/ft which currently houses over 133 businesses and has been fully let since November 2013.

The redevelopment of 16 Jordan Street has an expected completion date of May 2016 and will unlock a second pipeline development at 22 Jordan Street.
 
When refurbished, 22 Jordan Street will boast five new shop front mezzanine spaces facing onto Jamaica Street, along with three ground floor studios.
Building contractors Monsal Property have been appointed to deliver both 16 & 22 Jordan Street.

Miles Pearson, architect for the scheme, said: “Working with the building’s industrial spaces, materials and structure, we have been able to create nine unique studio office spaces, in the heart of the Baltic Triangle.

“All spaces will have a raw finish – exposed brickwork, fantastic 3.6m high ceilings, and concrete floors.”
 
Baltic Creative recently published its five-year business plan for the period 2016-2021 outlining its ambitious plans for future growth.
