Lakes guest house and cottage sold for £650,000

THE Mount guest house and Muckle Cottage near Keswick in the Lake District have been sold from an asking price of £685,000.

The specialist hotel and licensed property division of real estate advisers Colliers International acted on behalf of owner Stephanie Smith who is retiring from the hospitality trade.

Colliers sold the adjoining properties in the village of Portinscale to Dr Caroline Howarth and Dr Clive Penkett, who are relocating from Brighton, West Sussex.

The new owners will invest in both properties, operating The Mount as a guest house with five en-suite bedrooms and owner’s suite and Muckle Cottage as self-catering holiday accommodation.

Haydn Spedding, associate director, hotels and licensed property at the Manchester office of Colliers International, secured the sale and said the transaction provided further evidence of the ongoing popularity of prime hospitality businesses in the Lake District to potential buyers.
