Eddie the Eagle swoops to open shredding facility

SKI-jumper legend Eddie ‘the Eagle’ Edwards has opened a PHS Data Solutions’ new flagship shredding facility in Manchester.

Olympian Edwards and the Mayor of Trafford Cllr John Holden were among the invited guests at the formal launch of the new £800,000 plant.

The site at Trafford Park is expected to handle almost 8,000 tonnes of confidential paper a year.

The new shredding centre, which services the Manchester, North West England and North Wales regions, marks a significant increase in the company’s capacity to cope with the growing demand for its shredding services, and also has the potential for further significant employment opportunities in the next 12 months.

In his welcoming address, PHS Data Solutions Managing Director, Anthony Pearlgood, said that investing in shredding facilities – the company also opened a new centre in West Yorkshire just last year – is confirmation that more businesses are turning to PHS as their trusted third party provider to handle their confidential material safely and securely.

He said: “The facility in Manchester represents another significant investment by PHS Data Solutions in destruction sites, providing our customers with the best service possible. Our business has outgrown our existing confidential shredding centre in the area. This facility gives us the extra capacity and the room for future expansion that we need.”

PHS Data Solutions, a division of the PHS Group, is a specialist in the scanning, storage retrieval and shredding industry for a variety of sectors, including Government, the NHS, pensions, insurance, legal and retail.
