Medieval quarter offices get go-ahead

SALFORD City Council has given planning permission for 100 Embankment in the city’s medieval quarter, adjacent to Manchester Cathedral and Victoria Station.

100 Embankment is the second of two Grade A office buildings to be built at the Greengate scheme, which is a joint venture partnership between Ask Real Estate, Carillion and Tristan Capital Partners.

The first building, 101 Embankment, is due for completion in October.

100 Embankment will provide 166,00 sq ft of Grade A office space over eight floors, with large column-free floor-plates of around 20,000 sq ft.

John Hughes, managing director of Ask Real Estate, said: “The market interest in 101 Embankment has been significant and we are already talking to potential occupiers who are interested in phase two.”

Salford City Mayor, Paul Dennett, said: “This is a great opportunity for Salford to attract new jobs and continue the regeneration of the heart of our city.  Salford City Council is ready to work with all prospective employers to make it easy for them to re-locate or set up in our city. Working together, we can continue to bring in new job and training opportunities for all our city’s residents.”
