Capital & Centric disposes of Liverpool HQ buildings

REGENERATION firm Capital & Centric has sold Hangar 1 & 2 – its £3.5m industrial scheme at Estuary Commerce Park in South Liverpool.

Sports media firm PPL acquired an 18,000 sq ft building as its new headquarters and to accommodate a video production facility.

Meanwhile, film technology business Gencoa has taken the neighbouring 22,000 sq ft building for its new headquarters and product development laboratories.

The two buildings, designed by SixTwo architects and constructed by Seddon Construction, are situated on the old Liverpool Airport runway in landscaped surroundings and were speculatively developed by Capital & Centric, using ERDF funding following its acquisition of the five acre site from the Homes and Communities Agency last year.

Dr Dermot Monaghan of Gencoa said: “As a company operating in a high technology manufacturing arena, it was important to provide an impressive work environment for staff, with scope for future expansion. The facility also succeeds in projecting a positive image for customers visiting from across the world.”

Adam Higgins of Capital & Centric said: “We have developed several buildings on Estuary Commerce Park now. These projects have created hundreds of tech jobs for the local economy, regenerated brownfield land and delivered energy efficient buildings; it’s something we’d like to continue to do here as well as on other sites in the North.

“Hangar 1 & 2 defy the typical stereotype of a dull grey industrial warehouse by providing a light, bright and inspiring place to work in a prominent location befitting to a headquarter facility.”

CBRE and JLL acted for Capital & Centric on the disposals. DLA Piper was the appointed law firm for Capital & Centric.
