Relive Liverpool’s club scene with the kids at LIMF

A MINI-nightclub will re-live the heyday of some of the city’s most iconic clubs at Liverpool International Music Festival (LIMF) which returns to Sefton Park this weekend.

The specifically designed club, which will take place in the festivals Family Zone, will bring back happy memories of the likes of Erics, Cream and the Kazimier from 5pm on Friday 22nd July until 6pm on Sunday 24th July. The club, which will projections, music and a dance floor, will give visitors and their children a chance to dance with their loved ones whilst remembering the good old days. The soundtrack will include party favourites and the likes of The Clash, Frankie Goes to Hollywood and Josh Wink.

Cathy Cross, Director of Make Space Create which has designed the zone, said: “There is so much potential when it comes to an area like this and we wanted to do something that had a real nod to the city’s music history and at the same time would appeal to visitors old and young.”

“I think the club will be a highlight for many, but there is so much to do in the area that we really want it to be an opportunity for the whole family to come along, let their hair down and have some fun. The Family Zone has become such an integral and popular part of LIMF.”

There is also an area dedicated to traditional gamers who can get to grips with giant board games such as Hungry Hippos, Guess Who and Twister. There will also be a beach to chill out on as well as a magical maze to explore, street theatre, face painting and workshops, which will be all family friendly whilst the rest of the park listen to their favourite acts in the main section of LIMF.

Assistant Mayor and cabinet member for culture, tourism and events, Councillor Wendy Simon, said: “There is always a family-friendly emphasis on our events, and judging by the popularity of the area last year it’s clear that families like to take a break from the hubbub of the festival. With the plans in place for this weekend, it’s going to be a fun, immersive experience to keep people entertained for hours.”
