North Wales Blues and Soul Festival renames main stage in Tim Bacon’s memory

THE organisers of this weekend’s North Wales Blues and Soul Festival in Mold have renamed the main performance area the ‘Tim Bacon Stage’ in honour of the hospitality entrepreneur, who sadly passed away earlier this year following a battle with cancer.

The festival is the brainchild of Mold town centre manager Dave Hill and Charlie Broadhurst of Event Sound Ltd, a local Mold business providing technical support for live music events.

Tim attended the festival last year with his long-time friend and business associate Dave Hinds, himself a blues aficionado.

“Tim was a big supporter of live music and both sponsored and attended the North Wales Blues and Soul Festival,” said a spokesman for the event.

“Tim was widely regarded as both a gentleman and an inspirational figure – someone who gave a great deal of thought to making sure people had a good time.  We wanted to acknowledge his passing and say again how grateful we remain for his support.”

The festival, now in its third year, will see more than 20 of the UK’s hottest blues and soul acts will take to the stage and is expected to attract crowds of up to 4,000 people.

Headline acts include song-writing and storytelling blues legend Doug Macleod, Aynsley Lister, Connie Lush, five times winner of Blues in Britain magazine’s ‘Best UK Female Vocalist’ title, and British Blues Young Artist 2015, Laurence Jones.
