Winter Gathering at London Road

A WINTER market is set to light up the former London Road Fire Station soon.

It will open on Friday November 11 at London Road, opposite Piccadilly train station.

On the day, an ice rink and markets will be open to families, with the opportunity to sample food chosen by the British Street Food Awards at stalls including Steel Smoking, So Salad Crew, Wing It! And Bangers and Bacon.

Jay Ogugua, director of Elemental Events, said: “London Road is the perfect venue to create a magical experience on the run up to Christmas.

“The vibe of the place is already very special and we are building on this atmosphere to construct an incredible space for people to come and hang out in.

“Manchester is famous for the Christmas markets, with hundreds of thousands of people descending on the city each year.

“We are offering something new to compliment this vibrant heritage, in a building that people have wondered about for many years.”

Running from Tuesday to Sunday during the holiday season, The Winter Gathering is a joint event hosted by owners Allied London, The Manchester Ice Rink, Elemental Events and The Halo Group, a London-based creative production company.

Known for curating Solomon’s Yard in Camden Market this summer, Elemental Events, in association with Sam Tunstall and Twisted Music, will invite world-renowned DJs and live musicians to host an after-hours party throughout the historic buildings and courtyard.

Contemporary Galleries will create a pop-up art space, exhibiting limited edition prints produced by the gallery.

A number of designers will sell artisan and boutique goods on rotation, in partnership with Made Here, the main event producers who ran a market at the same venue in September.
