People on the move: Havas Lynx; Carat; Browne Jacobson; Tellus Solutions; Routes

Manchester-based healthcare creative agency Havas Lynx has bolstered its existing medical team with the announcement of three high profile new appointments – including the internationally renowned Dr Jack Kreindler.

Kreindler brings with him decades of experience and unrivalled expertise to the niche healthcare marketing industry.

He is founder and medical director of CHHP, the Centre for Health and Performance in London, as well as several other ground-breaking medical technology companies based in California.

At Havas Lynx, Kreindler will oversee campaign development, working closely with the creative team to ensure campaigns are informed by thorough, scientific insight.

He is joined by two rising stars Dr Ben Harman-Jones and Dr Yasmin Ghani, brought in to inject exciting new ideas which can be harnessed to reach the tech-savvy, social media weaned “Millennial generation”.

Carat Manchester, the advertising agency, has swooped to appoint new group business director from e-commerce retailer Shop Direct to join its senior leadership team.

Chris Howard will join the Dentsu Aegis Network-owned agency in March from his role as head of digital at the online retailer, where he oversaw the digital strategy for brands including Very.co.uk and Littlewoods.com.

Reporting into Carat Manchester’s managing director Rachel McDonald, Howard’s appointment sees him join the current leadership team of James Reddington, Charles Reid, Jill Thomas and recent hire, Dani Briers.

Howard, who has also held senior digital roles at eBay and Play.com, will be responsible for driving excellence in digital output across Carat’s growing client base.

His expertise in delivering industry leading marketing strategies which drive sales for major ecommerce brands, coupled with his client side experience, will be invaluable in delivering outstanding results for Carat’s clients.

Law firm Browne Jacobson has expanded its growing property health practice with the appointment of new partner Victoria Thourgood at its Manchester office.

The appointment represents the firm’s continued development of its work in the independent health sector and supports the rapid growth of the Manchester office.
 
Thourgood was previously a managing associate at Nabarro in Sheffield where she spent more than 20 years advising on all aspects of real estate work.

Whilst at Nabarro she also managed a primary healthcare real estate team and established particular expertise in development, investment and asset management in the primary healthcare sector.

Business support and investment company, based at Alderley Edge in Cheshire, Tellus Solutions has brought Gabrielle Chesterman on board to bolster its marketing and communications team.

The new role of project manager will see Chesterman reporting to Andrew O’Dua, founder and principal consultant at Tellus.
 
O’Dua said: “Gabrielle will lead Tellus Solutions as we continue to promote ourselves to businesses in a wide range of sectors. Continuing to grow our team as we expand into new markets is very much part of our strategy for 2017 and having Gabrielle join us is a great start to the year.”

The new hire follows the business’ recent move to bigger premises in Alderley Edge, following a shift in focus from bioscience to broader markets.

Steven Small has been appointed brand director of Routes, a Manchester-based organiser of  international events for the aviation industry.
He will head a business of 40 staff that was established in 1995 to promote air service development.

Routes events take part all over the world to bring together airlines, airports, tourism authorities and other stakeholders to plan new flights.

Small joins Routes from Marketing Liverpool where he is currently head of tourism, leading a team responsible for driving Liverpool’s leisure and business tourism through the Visit Liverpool and Liverpool Convention Bureau brands.

The Routes role marks a return to Manchester for Steven. He held senior positions at Marketing Manchester for seven years, working on a variety of projects with organisations including Manchester Central, the National Football Museum and Manchester Airport, as well as working with partners to attract major new events and conferences to Manchester.

Small said: “International connectivity is increasingly important for airports and the destinations they serve. Having worked with the Routes events in my past roles, I am now delighted to get the opportunity to work with the Routes team.”

Route development is a relatively new field of expertise that has been the domain of airlines and airports. However, tourism and economic development agencies are becoming more involved as they seek to boost visitor numbers to their destinations through improved international air connections.

Adrian Newton, group director at UBM EMEA, the owner of Routes, said: “Steven has led multi-disciplinary projects that have made an important contribution to the Northwest’s economy. His knowledge of tourism and economic development will be central to the continued success of the Routes business.”
