Thinking of popping the question this Valentine’s Day? According to a study of newlyweds by Beaverbrooks, the most popular place to propose is at home. But if you fancy doing something a bit different for the special moment, and having a moment with your partner that you will both never forget, head to one of these romantic locations right on your doorstep… 

Albert DockAlbert Dock – Liverpool

An evening stroll around the Albert Dock is one of the most romantic things you can do in Liverpool. Steeped in history, with incredible views of the Mersey, getting down on one knee here would go down incredibly well. There are thousands of locks attached to the railings by the river also, so it could be worth taking an engraved love lock along with the ring so you can remember where and when you got engaged for years to come.

Town Hall – Manchester

Manchester Town Hall is one of the most iconic buildings in the city, so if your partner is a proud Mancunian, chances are they will appreciate this location. The Victorian, neo-gothic building has been sat in the city since 1877, so just imagine how many happy couples it has seen over the years.

Anglican Cathedral – Liverpool

It would be cool to say that you got engaged at the top of the Anglican Cathedral, right? Not only is it visible from almost anywhere in the city centre, it is the fifth largest cathedral in the world. This is the perfect setting if you are after a classy proposal, with opulent interiors to incredible food and drink.

Crosby BeachCrosby Beach – Liverpool

There are so many beaches you could choose from in Merseyside, from Formby to New Brighton. But if you’re sticking closer to home, simply drive the short journey out to Crosby beach at sunset, or sunrise. The beach stretches for three miles, meaning you have plenty of time to pluck up the courage to ask the question whilst you both feel the sand in your toes. Who needs to go abroad?

If your partner loves history and architecture, then Manchester Cathedral is the place to put the ring on their finger.
