Theatre producers get the show on the road
St Helens-based production company Regal Entertainments is getting ready to take its shows on the road after 18 years of producing for the Theatre Royal.
The production company, which has created drama, comedy and panto productions at the St Helens Theatre Royal since 1999, produce all of the venues shows in-house, including three seasonal pantos and a stage play.
After growing popularity and positive public reaction to its shows in recent years, they are starting off by touring its two most popular productions, The Wizard of Oz and debauched comedy Rita, Sue and Bob Too! to audiences far and wide with upcoming tours in the planning for both shows.
A firm family favourite, Regal Entertainments has presented The Wizard of Oz seven times since 2009 and past productions of Rita, Sue and Bob Too! have seen West End star Darren Day and Steps popstar Lee Latchford Evans in the title role in Andrea Dunbar’s hilarious tale of love, lust and the ultimate test of friendship.
Chantelle Nolan from Regal Entertainments said: “Taking our shows out on tour is something that we have been wanting to do for a while and feel that now is the perfect time. Wizard of Oz and Rita, Sue and Bob Too! are two of my favourites and developing them for a wider audience is really exciting.
“We have had an amazing response to our productions over the last couple of years so I can’t wait to get them in to new venues.”
Regal Entertainments’ shows have featured the likes of TOWIE’s Amy Childs and Harry Derbidge, The Nolans’ Linda Nolan and Coronation Street and Bad Girls favourite Deborah Stevenson.
Bill Elms, associate producer said: “I have worked with Regal Entertainments for nearly 10 years, and having seen the growth and changes of their productions I am delighted to now be on board as Associate Producer for tours.
“They present fantastic shows, they understand what audiences want and they always deliver top quality entertainment. I know that these are going to be really well received and I am excited to be part of this new journey for Regal Entertainments!”
During 2016, St Helens Theatre Royal attracted over 53,000 people. Venues, tour dates and cast for The Wizard of Oz and Rita, Sue and Bob Too! are set to be released soon and on tour later this year.
