Creative agency Liquid has appointed Juliette Hagan to take up the role of account director.

Hagan, who has extensive experience in the advertising industry, will be responsible for strengthening the Liverpool agency’s offering and driving client projects.

Originally from London, she has worked in Geneva for the past eight years, managing campaigns for household names, including Nokia and Duracell.

Her previous experience for agencies including M&C Saatchi and AMV BBDO involved producing work for Wrigley’s, Nicorette and the Dixon’s Store Group.

Hagan said: “When I originally decided to move back to the UK, I spent time researching agencies who were making an impact in the creative sector.  

“Liquid particularly stood out to me as a North West agency with an international client base. They’re producing fantastic creative campaigns and concepts for household brand names, so I’m incredibly excited to join.”

She will report into Liquid’s founder and executive creative director Steve McGauley.
 
McGauley said: “Juliette is an extremely accomplished account director with a proven track record in the industry. She’ll be a great asset to the Liquid team and will lead the accounts and communications department with insight and experience.

Liquid was recently taken on by Haymarket Media Group as the creative and strategic partner for the British Style Collective 2017, presented by The Clothes Show, which takes place in Liverpool this summer.

Manchester-based cervical cancer diagnostic specialist Zilico has appointed a new member to its board of directors.
 
Dr Savvas Neophytou, is a partner of Deepbridge Capital, which primarily focuses on life sciences investments. Neophytou also co-founded Acorn Partners, a joint venture between Deepbridge Capital, Alder Hey Hospital and software engineers WeAreNova.
 
Neophytou is also a founding shareholder of a number of technology companies including Torafugu Tech and Cerneretec.

He is engaged in the emerging field of data driven enablers to improve health outcomes and Cerneretec is engaged in the development of point of care diagnostics for the acute care hospital setting.
 
He said: “We are delighted to be represented on the board of Zilico and we look forward to sharing in its future success. The company’s lead product ZedScan makes cervical cancer detection more accurate and less cumbersome whilst providing significant cost saving to overburdened global health systems.
 
“The product is already CE marked and selling in the UK with further geographical opportunities on the immediate horizon. Providing support to high quality scale-ups with excellent IP-backed products making them available for global markets is part of the DNA of Deepbridge Capital.

Manchester cyber security firm NCC Group the independent global cyber security and risk mitigation expert, has unveiled Jonathan Brooks as a non-executive director with effect from Thursday (March 16).

Brooks was chief financial officer of ARM Holdings from 1995 until 2002 and has been a non-executive director of IP Group plc since August 2011. He has also held a number of senior finance and non-executive director positions with other listed and private multinational companies.
 
Debbie Hewitt, senior independent director at NCC, said: “Jonathan brings extensive commercial, financial and international experience across the technology sector. He will strengthen the Board as we carry out the strategic review and develop the business thereafter.”

Manchester-based Kings Chambers barrister Sam Karim has taken silk and become Queen’s Counsel.
Sam Karim QC was sworn-in by the Lord Chancellor Elizabeth Truss in Westminster Hall at The Palace of Westminster.

In a celebration known as the ‘Silk Ceremony’, Karim was among 113 successful applicants to receive silk. He is one of the youngest QC’s to be appointed on the Northern Circuit and in Chambers.

Karim, who was called to the Bar in 2002, is a specialist practitioner in domestic and international public law, court of protection and domestic and international arbitration.

Ranked as leading individual in the Legal 500, he has gained his wealth of experience across all levels and types of courts.

Karim said: ‘‘Becoming Queen’s Counsel is the ultimate honour for any barrister. To be recommended by the Lord Chancellor and ultimately appointed by Her Majesty The Queen is a fantastic achievement. It is a privilege to have had my work recognised at this early stage of my career and I am incredibly proud to have taken silk in my fifteenth year of practise.’’

International law firm Pinsent Masons has announced the promotion of 16 individuals to its partnership, taking effect from May 1, 2017, two of them in its Manchester office.

Claire Edwards specialises in technology and data protection work, with extensive experience in advising both the public and private sector on major technology and business process outsourcing contracts, together with data protection and security expertise, all on a national and international basis.
Katheri
ne Sneddon specialises in providing dispute resolution and avoidance advice on a wide range of construction and engineering projects (including PFI projects in the health, education and waste sectors).

Sneddon has extensive experience of defending and pursuing high value claims in adjudication and litigation as well as resolving claims using mediation.

Kieran Toal also joins Pinsent Masons’ Manchester office in April, 2017 from Shoosmiths, where he led the corporate team and built up the firm’s private equity practice.

Toal has a wealth of experience advising a wide range of large corporates and private equity houses and will play a key role in growing Pinsent Masons’ private equity practice in the UK and internationally.
