CPUK Group sets sail on £4.5m Port Salford contract

Building group Construction Partnership UK has been appointed by development giant Peel Logistics Property to build a state-of-the-art warehouse and office facility at its emerging Port Salford freight terminal.
 
The £4.5m contract will see CPUK Group create the 50,000sqft new headquarters for freight logistics group Rhenus Logistics.
 
The site on the Manchester Ship Canal is strategically located at the UK’s first tri-modal inland port facility which will give Rhenus’ customers access to some of the fastest and most efficient routes into and out of the UK.
 
‘The Boysnope Wharf’ warehouse and infrastructure’ project is expected to be fully operational by the end of this year and its construction harnesses the combined skills of two CPUK Group operations – CPUK Construction and CPUK Civils and Remediation.
 
The group is now offering its clients a full construction and development service – from demolition and site remediation to building work.
 
The new warehouse and office development it is creating will occupy a 3.3acre site designated within the Port Salford development area and includes 10,000sqft of offices for the freight logistics giant.
 
CPUK Civils and Remediation has already started work on the contract and has extensively remediated and stabilised the site using its specialist equipment.
 
Once all the remedial work is completed the two-storey steel frame building will be constructed, and it will be supported by the installation of more than 750 concrete piles.
 
Construction work will also involve improvement to the existing access and provision of a new drainage outfall into the Manchester Ship Canal.
 
In addition, CPUK Group will provide 16 dock levellers and shelters, a service yard, car parking and external landscaping. The development has been designed by Manchester-based Bate and Taylor Architects.

“The remediation work that it has carried out on the Port Salford site has both mitigated the majority of the material that was required to be disposed from site and significantly reduced the stone imported by up to 85%, providing both time and cost savings.
 
“It is that all-round solution-finding approach that is helping us to win new work in all sectors.”
 
CPUK Group has recorded a strong start to 2017 with a £27 million boost to its order book.
 
The Skelmersdale, West Lancashire-based company has sealed a number of major contracts at the start of the year on a range of new developments and in sectors ranging from commercial to residential.
 
As well as the Port Salford contract, that growing pipeline includes a £17m student accommodation development in Glasgow.
