Team to transform Great Northern Warehouse appointed

A series of appointments have been made to the project being masterminded by Stirling Prize-winning architect Will Alsop to transform Manchester’ Great Northern Warehouse into a world-class residential, commercial and leisure quarter.
Trilogy Real Estate and Peterson Group have announced Manchester-based architect practice Simpson Haugh is to work on the Grade II-listed warehouse, with Johnson Naylor leading the interiors and Altrincham landscape architecture firm Planet IE working on the reconfiguration of Great Northern Square.
Alsop’s ALL Design will continue to work on the overall masterplan and drive the creative vision for the project as further phases develop and will be working on the designs for the reconfiguration of the cinema and car park block between the warehouse and the Hilton once a detailed consultation exercise with local stakeholders has been concluded.
The Strategic Regeneration Framework for the area was approved by Manchester City Council in February allowing the £300mi plans to move forward.
Robert Wolstenholme, managing director of Trilogy Property, said: “We’re excited to be working with some great Manchester based practices on our vision for Great Northern Warehouse and have a fantastic team in place with a strong mix of expertise, local knowledge and enthusiasm for the project.
“With Will Alsop already bringing his big-picture thinking and spirit to the project, this will be a rich collaboration. I’m confident we’re on track to deliver a world class destination for employment, leisure and high quality city centre living.”
