Appointments: New FD for Medicash as Arvia lures big hitter

LIVERPOOL-based Medicash, the healthcare cash plan provider, has appointed Michael Lawrie-Simmons as finance director.

Mr Lawrie-Simmons joins from National Museums Liverpool where he worked as finance director and was part of the executive board.

He will head up both the finance and IT departments for the company, which employs 70 staff and has a £24m turnover.

He said: “The management team is strong and I am looking forward to working with them in building upon their many recent successes and continuing to grow Medicash’s reputation as a market leader long into the future”.

MANCHESTER University spin out company Arvia Technology has appointed former Martin Keighley as its chief executive to lead the commercialisation of the buisiness and build the managment team.

Mr Keighley was previously European managing director for Tata Chemicals, owner of Cheshire-based Brunner Mond. Arvia has developed a low cost and low maintenance process for the removal of micro pollutants from water.
