Pinsent Mason in legal training move

LAW firm Pinsent Masons has signed an exclusive training deal with the College of Law.
The College of Law, which is a leading supplier of legal training, is opening a North West base in Manchester in September. The deal with Pinsent Masons will start in September and run for five years.
All the national law firms trainees will study the Legal Practice Course (LPC) either at the College’s Manchester centre in New York Street or its centres in York, London Moorgate and Birmingham.
The LPC is the qualification that all those intending to become solicitors must pass before they can proceed to the next stage of practice.
Tricia Chatterton, regional director of The College of Law, said: “I am particularly pleased to be working with Pinsent Masons in this way.
It takes our customisation approach to new levels by enabling firms like Pinsent Masons, with a national and international presence, to use the LPC and training as a tool for bringing consistency and common quality standards to their national and global operations.
Pinsent Masons partner Helen Ridge, who heads the Manchester office, said: “One of the key benefits of the firm moving to a single provider is that, in addition to a greater level of consistency, there will be a bespoke element to the course.
Trainees will gain a deep understanding of one of Pinsent Masons’ core sectors, along with learning about the firm’s client base and legal issues.”
