Banking veteran Allen to quit Barclays role

NORTH West corporate banking veteran John Allen is to step down from his role with Barclays.

The respected former regional director, who became NW non-executive chairman 18 months ago, is leaving at the end of March to pursue interests outside the sector.

Mr Allen has been with Barclays for 38 years.

Michael Hartig, commercial director at Barclays in Manchester, said “It has been invaluable having John around over the last 18 months to take advantage of his experience and knowledge of the local market.

“We are sorry to see him go, but appreciate his desire to look for a fresh challenge outside banking”.
