Speedy Hire restructures to focus on big clients

SPEEDY Hire is to restructure its business, with a new focus on market and large customer groups that it hopes will redefine the company as a service provider as well as a hire supplier.

The reorganisation of the Newton-le-Willows company, to be implemented in April, will mean a shift away from geographical and product-specific groupings.

Despite being hit by the significant decline in construction in the residential, commercial and retail sectors – resulting in the axing of 200 jobs in October – infrastructure spending by the government and regulated industries remain strong.

Speedy’s 50 biggest clients are most active in these areas and company wants to align itself more closely with major construction and industrial groups.

The Speedy Asset Services side of the business will have new divisions for light-side and heavy-side business and a strategic relationships division. Other new divisions will include international services, branded services and advisory services.

TheBusinessDesk understands that the restructure has been part of a year-long programme and that the changes to the business, which has not been formally announced, will develop further over the next few months.

A spokesperson for Speedy said: “Key to the hire industry’s continued success has been its ability to evolve in line with changing market conditions and market dynamics.

“Over the last 12 months, we’ve been assessing these changes and adapting our own business structures and offering accordingly.

“Following this assessment, we’re now implementing a number of exciting strategic and operational changes across our group – changes that will ensure we deliver continued growth in our chosen markets.

“This is an ongoing process which we will be communicating more fully in due course.”
