Manchester consultancy to lead Moorfields’ revamp

MANCHESTER construction consultant Property Tectonics has been appointed as lead advisor on the £1.3m modernisation of Moorfields Eye Hospital.

The business will oversee the scheme that will revamp eight of the famous London-based hospital’s out-patient clinics.

Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is one of the world’s leading centres for eye health providing help to people with a wide range of eye problems from common complaints to rare conditions which cannot be treated anywhere else in the UK.

Property Tectonics said it will organise temporary locations for each of the clinics and has pledged to ensure construction does not cause major disruption to staff and patients.

Director Ian Haywood, said: “What makes this work interesting is the organisational complexities involved in refurbishing a large and busy hospital whilst keeping all the clinics operational.

“This is something we are used to as most of our work in existing buildings calls for this approach, but it is particularly rewarding to be involved in such an important and sensitive project.”
