Begbies acquires South Yorkshire firm

MANCHESTER-based insolvency firm Begbies Traynor has bought out Sheffield-based competitor Hamiltons Insolvency Practitioners for an undisclosed sum.

The practice said that the deal would help it to grow its presence in South Yorkshire. Hamiltons was run by Adrian Graham and Deborah Lockwood, who will now become partners within Begbies Traynor. The firm also said that it plans to recruit additional staff in the area.

Executive chairman Ric Traynor said: ““The acquisition of Hamiltons represents an opportunity to acquire a successful and well-regarded business that fits well with our existing operations.

“It is consistent with our strategy of considering both organic investment and acquisition opportunities, principally in the insolvency and restructuring sector.”
