Appointments: Northern Starup apoints to board; new DTE corp finance director; and more…

EVEO Ltd, the company behind the ‘Northern StartUp 2.0’ series of monthly events for technologists, entrepreneurs and investors, has appointed two new directors to its steering board.

New members Phil Tapsell and Tom Cheesewright will be responsible for shaping the growth strategy for the event’s brand.

Mr Tapsell, founder and chief executive of TechVenture Solutions, which helps to commercialise new technologies, has joined the board with responsibility for business development.

Meanwhile, Mr Cheesewright, managing director of digital marketing consultancy The Lever, has been appointed to direct marketing of the events.

Manoj Ranaweera, founder and chief executive of Eveo, said: “Northern StartUp has become a vibrant community of investors and innovators, but there remains scope for growth.

“By providing a single source for… people to find the support and investment they need to build successful technology enterprises, we want to make the North West a globally recognised centre for innovation.”

DTE Corporate Finance has appointed Andy Humphrey as a director.

Mr Humphrey, 45, will drive deal generation at the firms Manchester-based corporate finance team.

He will be responsible for traditional corporate finance work as well as leading specialist debt advisory projects in both the public and private sector.

He has joined DTE from accountancy firm Grant Thornton where he spent eight years. Previously, he worked for eight years in the acquisition finance team at Lloyds TSB.

NORTH West accountancy firm Cowgill Holloway has made two appointments to its strengthened wealth management and audit teams.

Rachel Sojka joins Cowgill Holloway FMG, a partner firm of Cowgill Holloway, and Amie Ellis has been appointed as an audit senior.

Ms Sojka, an independent financial adviser, previously worked for the Bolton office of Tenon.

Paul Stansfield, managing partner and head of Cowgill Holloways audit and compliance team said: Despite the current economic climate when many other firms are implementing a recruitment freeze we continue to expand firm-wide.

STOWE Family Law has appointed Isabel Thornton to the firm’s Cheshire office.
Ms Thornton, who joins from Brabners in Liverpool as a solicitor, has experience in the issues raised when co-habiting couples separate.

PR and corporate communications recruitment company VMA Selection has promoted Laura McDyre to senior consultant in its Manchester office.

Ms McDyre covers the energy and utilities sector, and the consumer goods and retail sectors.

Prior to joining VMA two years ago, she was account director at SLG Marketing, a business to business marketing agency.
