170 jobs go at Chandos Timber

A TIMBER frame manufacturer based in Rochdale has gone into administration with the loss of 170 jobs.

Administrators from the accountancy firm Cowgill Holloway were appointed to Chandos Timber Engineering on November 22.

They have been unable to find a buyer for the business which has been hit by the general downturn in construction and the demise of the building firm Rok.

The company was founded in 2000 and operates from a £4m purpse-built facility at the Karmo Industrial Estate.
