Major £3bn South West water project awarded to six construction partners

South West Water has chosen six main construction partners to carry out a major £3bn infrastructure investment program.

The 2025-2030 business plan aims to inject investment into the local economy, generating approximately 2,000 new jobs. The plan includes the development of new treatment works and reservoirs as key investments.

To help deliver this project in the west of the region BAM Nuttall< Clacy and Mott Mcdonald Bently have been appointed as main construction partners and in the east, Tilbury Douglas, MWH Treatment and Network Plus Envolve.

They will be supported by several professional consultants, including, project management; Stantec, Long O Donnell, Turner & Townsend, while Aecom, ChandlersKBS, Turner & Townsend will ensure the best value for money and Aecom, Arcadis, Pell Frischmann, Stantec, WSP will be in charge of design.

These appointments will allow them to address challenges such as reducing storm overflow usage through the WaterFit program, maintaining regional bathing waters, and enhancing water resilience in response to climate change.

We’re already tackling the challenges we face, but with greater investment, we can go further and faster. We look forward to working with our partners over the years to come as we deliver the projects to meet the needs of the Greater South West.”
