Acquisitive environment services company swoops for South West drainage specialist

Drainage and civil engineering specialist Glanville Environmental has been acquired by an environmental services business backed by Goldman Sachs,

The deal is designed to further enhance new owner Harrogate-based Adler & Allan’s ability to tackle environmental challenges such as reducing pollution and managing water resources in the South West.

Ivybridge-headquartered Glanville Environmental delivers drainage civil engineering, installation and remediation, and specialises in geospatial surveys, CCTV surveying, high-pressure water jetting, gully cleansing, liquid waste movement and septic tank emptying.

The firm was established in 1983 by David Glanville, a self-employed sole trader working with his tractor and trailer in rural Devon.

Today it employs more than 180 people across five depots across Somerset, Cornwall and Devon working with clients in the water, rail and construction sectors as well as domestic customers.

Glanville Environmental is Adler & Allan’s largest acquisition to date, seventh in the utilities sector, and 10th overall in the last three years.

Jamie Treliving, managing director at Glanville Environmental, said the firm was thrilled to be joining the Adler & Allan Group.

“The extent of Adler & Allan’s service range, combined with our presence in the South West is a fantastic opportunity to broaden our customer offer, whilst further strengthening Adler & Allan’s leading position in the wastewater recycling industry,” he added.

Henrik Pedersen, chief executive officer of Adler & Allan, said: “Driven by our purpose of creating better environmental outcomes, welcoming Glanville Environmental into the Adler & Allan family represents another tangible step towards realising our plan to scale our operations and further strengthen our market leading package of integrated environmental solutions.”

This acquisition comes after sustainable remediation specialist MEL Environmental Solutions joined the Adler & Allan Group last October.
