Wealth management firm launch charity appeal in memory of former colleague

Employees at the Bristol office of Evelyn Partners, the leading integrated wealth management and professional services group, have launched a charity fundraising challenge in memory of their colleague Dave Mouncey.

Dave, a well-known figure in Bristol’s business scene who was a partner at the firm, passed away in December aged 63. Staff are aiming to walk, run, cycle, dance and swim a total of 63,000km in his memory to raise funds for Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal, their chosen charity during 2024.

The Grand Appeal, the official charity of the Bristol Children’s Hospital, is the latest good cause to benefit from the fundraising efforts of employees at Evelyn Partners. Last year they raised a total of £3,955 for Bristol homelessness charity St Mungo’s with a series of fundraising events including a raffle, table tennis competition and bake sales.

Employees also volunteered more than 130 hours of their time to support St Mungo’s. They helped prepare Christmas meals and wrapped presents, and took part in homeless street counts and gardening activities. Evelyn Partners made a financial donation of £900 in recognition of the volunteer hours worked by staff.

In addition, staff in the Bristol office also raised £2,665, during Movember, the men’s health awareness month, which raises funds and awareness of prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and poor mental health among men. This was matched with a further £2,500 donation from Evelyn Partners, creating a total of £5,165.

Helen Bassett, the newly-appointed regional managing partner of Evelyn Partners’ Bristol professional services practice, said: “We wanted to celebrate Dave’s inspiringly active zest for life with an office-wide activity challenge.

“Dave’s family were also looking for a charity to support in his memory and we suggested the Grand Appeal, which is our charity of the year. Our 63,000km challenge is a fitting way to remember Dave and raise much-needed funds for a great cause.”

Helen added: “I would also like to say a huge thank you to our awesome team in Bristol for their amazing fundraising and volunteering efforts last year in support of St Mungo’s and other great causes.”
