Bristol lawyers work on sale of pharmaceutical business

Lawyers at Osborne Clarke in Bristol advised the shareholders of Cherwell Laboratories Ltd. on the sale of the company to the AnalytiChem group.

Cherwell, based in Bicester, Oxfordshire, is a leading provider of cleanroom microbiology solutions to customers in pharmaceutical and related industries across the UK and internationally.

Andy Whittard, whose father founded the business in 1971, will continue to lead the company as managing director.

AnalytiChem, headquartered in Germany and backed by US private equity investor Battery Ventures, is a group of life sciences companies providing laboratories around the world with analytical chemicals, certified reference materials and laboratory equipment.

Osborne Clarke’s team included Bristol-based partner Tracey Wright, who heads the firm’s tax group. It was led by partner Justin Starling, assisted by associate director Lesley Olsen and senior associate Ben Parker. Additional support was provided by trainee solicitor Edward Aves (tax), partner Michael Carter and associate Will Cashman (incentives), and associate director Emma Ladley (employment).
