Pub chain enjoys strong start to the year

North Somerset based Butcombe Pubs & Inns is reporting record sales for March.

The brewery and pub operator has seen record figures thanks, in part to a bumper Mother’s Day weekend and the Cheltenham Festival.

The Mother’s Day weekend saw the pub group, with sites across the south of England, cater nearly eight per cent more covers than last year with families coming out in force.

This year both Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th March proved equally popular with those celebrating equating to an increase in food sales of over 29%.

Jayson Perfect, chief operations officer of  Liberation Group  the owners of Butcombe Pubs & Inns, said: “We’re delighted with such a strong start to the Spring/Summer season.

“Mother’s Day is a big deal and one of the first seasonal sale markers of the year, so to beat our own past records is something to be very proud of.

“Our chefs and teams worked hard to put together a beautifully curated menu sure to impress mothers everywhere and it paid off.  Seeing our pubs full of people enjoying themselves is what we love most and bodes well for the year ahead.”

Butcombe Pubs & Inns’ sites in and around Cheltenham were fully booked both in terms of accommodation and dining, with race-goers choosing to stay for the duration of the Cheltenham Festival which ran from Tuesday 12th to Friday 15th March.

Jayson Perfect added: “Our Gloucestershire pubs were packed to the rafters with racing fans from all over the world, here to enjoy everything the iconic Cheltenham Festival has to offer.

“We were delighted to look after them with superb accommodation, excellent food and our award-winning beer and it was great seeing everyone coming together and enjoying themselves.”
