SPAR acquires Bristol store from Co-op
SPAR wholesaler Appleby Westward has opened a new store in Bristol.
Located in Pill, north west of the city centre, it has joined Appleby Westward’s expansive list of company-owned stores.
The shop, which has been acquired from Co-op, supplies Station Road and surrounding areas with fresh groceries, household essentials, and a range of branded and own-brand products.
Since the takeover, Appleby Westward has added a Costa Coffee machine to the store, as well as an in-store bakery to enable customers to access freshly-cooked food to take away.
Amanda Dexter, store manager, said: “It has been great working with the Appleby Westward team to transition the store from Co-op to SPAR and I’m really happy with how smooth the process has been.
“Our local community is at the heart of everything we do so it’s great that we have been able to keep the store open for them, while improving the services and products we offer too. I can’t wait to see what other opportunities this brings the store.”
Appleby Westward has continued the employment of all existing team members who wanted to transition, including the store manager.
