Dorset care home sold for undisclosed amount
Specialist business property adviser Christie & Co has completed the freehold sale of a nursing home in Shaftesbury.
Cedars Nursing Home is a Grade II listed residential, end-of-life and dementia care home located in the centre of the historic market town in Dorset. Registered for 31 service users, the home benefits from 31 single bedrooms and an enclosed garden providing safe outside space.
The business has been owned by Cedars Castle Hill, a local charity which, in 1990, raised charitable support to acquire and reconfigure the property. Cedars opened to residents in 1994 and, in 2010/11, a large extension was created to add further rooms.
Following a confidential sales process with Charles Phillips at Christie & Co, the home has been purchased by Park Healthcare.
Martin Thomas, chair of the Trustees of Cedars Castle Hill, said: “The Trustees of the charity are very pleased to have achieved a sale of Cedars Nursing Home as a going concern which secures the continuity of care for the residents and jobs for the staff. This has been very important to us, and we are glad to be passing the business on to Park Healthcare Ltd which is a local care provider. The charity plans to use the sale proceeds to support its strategic move to becoming a grant-giving charity for the benefit of local residents.”
Mr Ramesh Dalton, director at Park Healthcare, added: “We are delighted to purchase Cedars Nursing Home and feel that there will be great synergies with our other homes in the local area those being Hays House near Shaftesbury and The Mellowes in Gillingham. We look forward to continuing the good care that the previous owners provided and supporting our residents and staff.”

Cedars Nursing Home was sold for an undisclosed price.
