Funder unveils new chief operating officer

One of the largest and most experienced growth capital investors in the UK  has appointed a new chief operating officer.

Previously chief financial officer of Ultraleap, the Bristol-based technology company, Christopher Olds is the new COO at BGF.

In his role at Ultraleap, he led the business through a significant phase of growth, raising over £100m in equity and debt, and leading the acquisition of US tech company Leap Motion.

Before that, Christopher held the position of Capital Markets Partner at IP Group, a FTSE 250 listed venture capital firm. He has also been a non-exec director and advisor to multiple international growth stage companies.

Christopher holds an Executive MBA with distinction from Oxford University and is a chartered accountant.

Christopher will play a key role in delivering the strategic roadmap for BGF and delivering best-in-class infrastructure to support its continued growth.

Reporting to chief executive Andy Gregory, he will sit on the executive committee, investment committee and the board.

Matthew Reed who has been with BGF since its inception, latterly as COO, is stepping down after more than 12 years.

Matthew has been instrumental in the establishment, growth and success of BGF to date.

In his role at BGF, Christopher will be responsible for all operational areas of the business including finance, regulatory and compliance, legal, technology/IT, ESG, IR and fundraising and operations and facilities.
