Accountancy firm appoint new South West partner

Accountancy, tax and advisory firm Bishop Fleming has announced its latest partner promotion as it continues its growth drive in Plymouth and across the South West.

John Speak has stepped up from accountancy director to the partnership group, having trained with the firm and risen through the management structure.

The promotion is aligned with continued growth for Bishop Fleming and echoes the success of the firm, which has recorded another successful financial year.

With another year of double-digit growth and revenue of over £43m, the firm is focussing on an ambitious growth target across the Midlands and South West, with several Partner hires coming into the firm in 2024.

John Speak said:  “I am delighted to move into a partner role at such an exciting time as the firm continues to invest in its ambitious firmwide growth strategy. I will be playing a key part in contributing to this strategy, focusing on mid-market clients in the Plymouth, West Devon, and East Cornwall areas.

“Since joining as a trainee, the firm has proactively invested time and effort in developing me and the wider team, and moving into this role is a testament to the firm’s ongoing commitment to that approach.

“I look forward to continuing to work and support my great clients and hope to help many more.”

John brings considerable experience working with businesses throughout the region, offering a high level of strategic advice, technical accounting knowledge and expertise.

Robert Davey, partner and chief finance officer, said: “Congratulations to John on his promotion, which rewards his hard work and dedication at Bishop Fleming.

“John’s promotion and progression within our firm is a testament to his technical expertise, strategic thinking and commitment to client service. His journey reflects our dedication to developing and recognising those playing an essential role in developing exceptional value to our clients and driving our firm’s success. I wish John all the very best in his new role”.

“We have ambitious growth plans for our business and our team. Investing in and developing our people, combined with attracting the very best candidates in the market, is a key part of our business strategy. I encourage anyone wanting to know more about a rewarding career with Bishop Fleming to get in touch.”

Bishop Fleming’s latest announcement follows the recent promotion of 27 employees across the firm’s core services, which was a significant milestone in the firm’s commitment to internal talent development and firm-wide growth and aligned with the firm again being recognised as a Great Place to Work for 2024.
