Demand soars at workplace health provider

Healthcare trust provider Healix, has experienced strong growth in the last five years as demand has soared.

Demand has come from both employers looking to offer private healthcare to employees and members taking up healthcare services via their workplace.

Healix’s revenue has increased by over 140 per cent since 2020, with a 67 per cent increase in the amount of people supported via workplace schemes.

The Bristol firm has continued to develop its offering over the last few years, in response to more of its member companies looking to support a wider range of employees.

Most recently its increased provision has included access to three diagnostic pathways for breast, skin, and prostate cancer assessments, and a digital dermatology service, giving people fast access to support in response to skin cancer concerns.

Healix has also experienced increasing demand for its non-standard healthcare benefits. It found that new companies introducing fertility benefits to their employees has increased by 86% from 2020 to 2023, while the number of companies offering neurodevelopmental benefits has increased by 500% since 2022. Firms offering gender dysphoria benefits has risen by 500% since 2021.

Chief executive Ian Talbot said: “Despite data showing that private medical insurance costs are rising, we are seeing no signs of employers offering cover to their employees slowing down.

“Employers have an important role to play in supporting people as access to the national health service is becoming increasingly challenging. Providing support for employees to access individualised, bespoke healthcare is in turn becoming an increasingly important recruitment and retention tactic.”
