Company boss completes cycle challenge to raise thousands for charity
The managing director of a Bristol facilities management business recently completed a charity cycling challenge to raise thousands of pounds for charity.
Brady Savage-George, who runs paintworks headquartered Almeda took part in a 500-mile cycle following the famous north coast 500 route at the northern tip of Scotland.
Over the four days it took him to complete the task, Brady cycled 410 miles and climbed 27,000 ft in total.
He also raised £8,000 in funds for The Bike Network – an organisation that provides free bicycles and cycling equipment to people affected by cancer across the UK.
Brady spent several months preparing for the North Coast 500, whilst also training for an Ironman distance triathlon in Copenhagen in August.
He has worked with high-performance experts such as Adam Walker, who is a record-breaking open water marathon swimmer.
Brady said: “This challenge was about more than just physical endurance – it was a ride to empower individuals during the most challenging fight of their lives.
“Cancer unfortunately impacts one in two people across their lifetime, and I am proud to be doing whatever I can, even in a small way, to help.
“My emotions on completing the task were elation and exhaustion and it helped to have a great team of people completing the ride with me too. The elements threw everything at us – wind, rain, sun, you name it, and there was a bad storm on the final day.”
Almeda recently recorded its “best year of trading” since the company was founded.
Revenue at Almeda Facilities surpassed its previous record year and leadership at the company said they signed off its latest accounts with turnover around £7.3m and a healthy EBITDA.
Almeda works with businesses spanning multiple sectors from manufacturing through to commercial office environments.
