BDO’s private client services team set for growth

Accountancy and business advisory firm BDO has strengthened its Southern private client services team, with Michael Flaherty and Lucy Saunders taking the helm across the entire region.
The duo will lead 35 people across five offices covering the South East, Central South and the South West.
Flaherty, who was previously head of private client services in the South East, with Saunders joining the firm as partner in January, will sit under the leadership of David Brookes, regional head of tax.
Brookes commented: “In the last 12 months, we have made significant investment in our private client services team, bringing onboard talent such as Lucy and James Mohide, who has joined our Bristol tax team.
“With 35 private client professionals now sitting across the entire Southern region, we have the knowledge and expertise on a truly local level to support HNW individuals and businesses as they try to navigate the changing and often complex tax system. With Michael and Lucy at the helm, we’re confident we can continue to grow our tax practice and strengthen our proposition in the South.”
Flaherty and Saunders leadership coincides with the firm’s commitment to the region, after signing long-term office leases in both Guildford and Southampton.
Flaherty said: “The additional capability, both in terms of personnel and office space, gives us a real strategic advantage in key locations in the Southern region.
“The upcoming Autumn Budget will no doubt have a real impact on the individuals, families and businesses we support across our five offices in the South. Having strength and depth in local markets will enable us to tackle any anticipated changes head on, while guiding clients through the year(s) ahead.”
