Plans go in for riverside community scheme on former Homebase site

Plans have been submitted for a new riverside community in Bath on the site of a former Homebase.

HUB and Bridges Fund Management have put forward proposals for the mixed-use development on derelict brownfield land on Pines Way.
The proposals include 275 build-to-rent homes and 180 shared living properties.

There would also be more than 10,000 sq ft of flexible commercial and amenity space. Bridges and HUB acquired the vacant 4.5 acre site for £18.5m earlier this year.

The scheme has been designed by JTP Architects.

Victoria Manston, development director at HUB, said: “Pines Way is a fundamental component of Bath Western Riverside’s wider regeneration. The scheme has the opportunity to transform a vacant brownfield site into a thriving new neighbourhood – delivering new commercial space alongside high quality homes for the city’s growing community of workers.”

Adam Amijee, investment manager at Bridges Fund Management, said: “Our proposed transformation of this derelict site on Pines Way will provide much-needed high-quality new homes for Bath’s growing population, while also helping to revitalise this attractive riverside area.”
Nigel Bidwell, partner at JTP, said: “It’s a privilege to design in Bath and the Pines Way proposal seeks to balance the sensitivities of this special city with the exciting and important opportunity of contributing to its newest quarter at Bath Western Riverside.”
