FullFibre and Zzoomm merger completes to create one of UK’s largest altnets

James Warner, group CEO, and Matthew Hare, executive chairman

The merger of Exeter’s FullFibre and Zzoomm has completed after receiving regulatory approval, creating one of the UK’s largest altnets.

The enlarged group has some 600,000 properties ready for service and over 70,000 customers.

The merger includes FullFibre’s wholesale operations, its retail ISP BeFibre, and Zzoomm’s established full fibre business.

The business said it will be in a “much stronger position” to accelerate organic growth across its two consumer brands and wholesale network.

It will also be able to achieve greater operational and financial efficiencies through economies of scale.

Zzoomm CEO Matthew Hare will take on the role of executive chairman, while James Warner, CEO of FullFibre, will become group CEO of the enlarged business.

The company said: “The larger group will be able to secure funding to support further investment in its networks and, as one of the largest Altnet businesses with excellent infrastructure, is well-positioned to drive M&A across the fragmented sector.”
