Turner & Townsend has been appointed as project manager and employer’s agent for the major regeneration of Canons House, the former regional headquarters of Lloyds Bank in Bristol, delivering the city’s largest office building.

Turner & Townsend said it was a “significant strategic win for the business” following its deal to combine CBRE’s project management and Turner & Townsend into one integrated global business in January.

Canons House, a Grade II listed building located on Bristol’s Harbourfront within the City Dock Conservation Area, was purchased by Kinrise and Mactaggart Family & Partners (MFP) last December from Lloyds Banking Group with a vision to create the leading office building in Bristol.

Design work is underway to retrofit the iconic harbourside building to include top specification, headquarter office space with independent restaurants and roof terraces.

Originally designed by Arup Associates and built by Bovis Construction in the late 1980s, Cannons House was designated as Grade II listed in April 2023 due to its significant role in the transformation of Bristol’s docks during the post-industrial era, its rich architectural heritage, and its picturesque waterfront setting.

Once completed, Canons House will offer 200,000 sq ft of office, retail, food & beverage, and leisure amenities, fostering a vibrant, mixed-use environment.

Trefor Evans, director and strategic lead for the South West, UK at Turner & Townsend, said: “Being entrusted with the regeneration of Canons House, a landmark building that holds great significance in Bristol, exemplifies our commitment to delivering best-in-class project management services. We are thrilled to be supporting Kinrise and MFP in achieving their ambitious vision for the space.

“Canons House is an outstanding example of how heritage and innovation can come together to create a dynamic, sustainable workplace. We look forward to working closely with Kinrise and MFP to bring this iconic building back to life and contribute to the ongoing transformation of Bristol’s Harbourfront.”

Charlotte Acreman, senior director at Turner & Townsend, added: “This appointment marks an exciting new partnership with Kinrise and MFP, an organisation that shares our passion for delivering high-quality, community-focused spaces. We are proud to be part of this significant regeneration project and to play a role in shaping the future of Canons House.”
