Law firm appointed by renewable energy producer

The energy and infrastructure team at Bristol law firm Foot Anstey has been appointed to Sonnedix’s UK panel.

Sonnedix, a renewable energy producer, develops, builds and operates renewable energy projects with the aim to provide affordable, clean electricity to customers.

With almost 500 projects in operation, under construction, or in different development phases globally, the Sonnedix footprint spans North and South America, across Europe and as far East as Japan.

Having constructed its first UK solar pv site back in 2014 and following its recent acquisition of 300MW from Lightsource bp Sonnedix is looking to scale up its presence in the UK market significantly, serving as a hub to support its global and European presence.

As part of the panel, Foot Anstey will be supporting Sonnedix on a variety of energy projects through its specialist services which include corporate, real estate, construction, regulatory, and environmental issues.

The Foot Anstey team supporting Sonnedix includes Ian Stubbs (head of energy and infrastructure, and Kieran van Bussel (senior associate), as well as a multi-disciplinary team of energy specialists from across the firm.

Sonnedix said: “We were really impressed with how the team at Foot Anstey tailored its response to the tender, which demonstrated the firm’s clear knowledge of the industry and Sonnedix’s place in it. The team has a proven track record in supporting renewable energy companies on various matters and we are excited to work with Foot Anstey to scale up our presence in the UK.”

Stubbs said: “Sonnedix has ambitious plans to grow in the UK and we are excited to be part of that journey. We have extensive experience in enabling renewable energy projects, in the UK and further afield and particularly with non-UK businesses looking to enter or grow their presence here. In the last year, we have seen a dramatic increase in interest and investment in the UK’s renewable energy space, something that we are well-equipped to advise on.”
